I had that carb- spray that seemed to work a little when it stuck.
Mine was single barrel carb, so every morning starting it took at least 2 good cranks and very quick pressing/depressing the accelerator action. Lots of folks say that you should push the gas all the way down, but mine used to do better when I moved my foot back and forth really fast...then did the same thing after it started to keep it from stalling.
I also had a problem with the gearbox. I had a three speed manual "on the tree" that was converted to a floor mounted hurst shifter that downright sucked...it used to get stuck into gear or get hung up and couldn't get out without a little crow bar and hammer action. Ususlly if I found a foward gear, I could get it to move and then get it released enough where I could shift again. Unfortunately, it got hung up once on a rail road track and I had to climb under the truck to losen the linkage enough to get it into neutral.
