By 2010 or 2011 there will be a wide range of vehicles on sale in the USA with diesel engine options, and it seems likely that they will be very popular.

VW will have the diesel Jetta sedan and wagon (and probably other models) on sale by this Summer, and the mileage they have been reporting is wonderful.

I see no reason to keep making gasoline engines for cars and trucks, and would support banning gasoline engines by 2015.

Some people have argued that more demand for diesel fuel will lead to higher prices, but that would only be true in the short run. If we switch to diesel, every station will be selling the exact same product, so they will be very competitive and all of the expenses associated with gasoline branding will be gone.
