For a good deal less than your price he can go lease a Corvette. Eariler in the year the wanted to lease an Outlook or an Acadia but every offer was completely out of the ballpark compared to competing brands. I've got the man interested in getting a GM product but he feels like the dealers are trying NOT to sell a car. He likes the vehicles but he's not going to pay a premium for them when similar models with similar MSRPs from the competition are offering way better leases. Its fustrating.

Sounds like the dealer is the problem. A unit sold is a unit sold. I don't understand why they would NOT want to sell it. i can't speak for the dealer or the on-line chat, but I would have no problem leasing one to him. I asked my sales manager if he would have a problem leasing a Sky and he looked at me like I was stupid for asking that question.
In reality though, it is better that he buy it, after three years he could probably sell it and get his money back.
There is nothing similar to a Sky or Solstice. The competition just doesn't turn heads and GM can command a premium for them because people want them. An S-2000 for example has not been updated and the Miata looks and drives like a Go-Kart. It's winter, so they will sit on the lots and dealers will begin accepting GMS & GSU if it is available to the customer. Once Spring/Summer hit, dealers will more than likely only accept retail.
