And I took out one leaf of the rear leaf springs too, along with the shockers, to really lighten her up and bring on throttle lift-off, turn-in and power oversteer, even when there's no corner. So she's real nimble and real agile, just like a fox in a hen house bein' peppered with buckshot.

I've modded the engine up real good too. She's got twin carbies now I've duct-taped another one on top of the original carburettor. An' there's not an air cleaner in sight, just like a real race car.

To reduce friction I've wound the rear drum brakes all the way off. And I think I may do the same to the front drums too. And that's why I'm a street racer extraordinaire. People keep outa my way.

So you know I'd whip you all. Unfortunately I can't race tonight, or through November as my marching band is practicing for the regional finals and I have to be there to bring them their water refreshments at intermissions. But I am also 2nd base drum reserve.

Anyway, so you guys are just plain lucky, otherwise I'd have your pink slips. And one of your carbies would be making the 'Y' into a triple carbie job; after I got some more duct tape with my next allowance.

I can't believe you're serious. To destroy the collector car value of a car like the Datsun 120Y (B210 in the US) is almost criminal. I suggest that you demodify it immediately and pray that you haven't permanently destroyed it's classic car status. Pristine examples of this car are worth upwards of 400 bucks, and the price will only escalate from there. In a hundred years this car could top 2000 dollars! At that point, you will look back wistfully at what might have been. If you insist on ruining it though, here is a link on how to do it correctly.

While it does appear that you do indeed possess some amount of expertise in cutting edge vehicular modifications, I'm afraid a lot of it is basic stuff that I pioneered years ago. I've also kept "moving forward". You don't actually need to back the brakes off, just dose them real good with WD-40 or an equivalent lube before each race. Also, speaking of unsprung weight, if you remove all the springs then you completely eliminate it. The result is go kart like handling (and ride, unfortunately), but that shouldn't be a problem on a pure racing machine. Just remember to bolt some wooden blocks in to replace the springs unless you're going ultra low on the ride height.

I hate to tell you this, but tack welding the wheels on just isn't practical. It gets to be a royal pain flipping the car onto it's top every time you have to fix a flat. For safety and convenience, always run at least one lug nut. Just make sure it's really tight so it will hold as good as four.

The rest of your modifications seem pretty sound to me, except that if you did beat me, my high tech car doesn't have a carb. Since yours is pre-computer you would have to buy a laptop in order to make the injectors squirt when you want them to. While this may sound easy, believe me, it's not. Far better to stick with the carb and just drill out all the holes you can find, so they will flow more gasoline.

My superior technical verbosity should also remove all lingering doubt as to the complete lack of wisdom required to actually contemplate that it would be anything other than dangerously foolhardy folly to engage me in a contest that consists of comparing vehicular acceleration rates over a measured distance and/or time period for the purpose of ascertaining the victorious vehicle/driver combination in order to verify who owes whom what. In short, do you really want to race me with money on the line?
