No, CAFE didn't kill the station wagon, the manufacturers did when they created the SUV to bypass the CAFE standards that the wagons couldn't meet. I am not a closet domestic hater, I have never owned, nor will I ever own, a foreign car. No Toyotas, no Hondas, no Nissan or VW. It just saddens me that the only thing GM can build right is an SUV. My Ion gets 33-35 or so, but it's the same size as the Civic. Why can't GM make the Ion get 40 like the Civic does? That's what upsets me.
P.S. I've owned nothing but GM since I started driving. That's loyalty. I only wish they could match the foreign cars on fuel economy, that's reality.
