When GMC first launched the CarbonPro carbon fiber pickup bed, they were confident enough to let an assembled group of journalists beat on it for as long as they wanted. That included assaulting it with cinder blocks, metal poles, a (not-running) chainsaw, and lots of other fun stuff. I beat one with a golf club until my hands started to hurt, and I watched another, more muscular writer shatter a baseball bat on the bed.
But that wasn't GMC's ultimate test.
This is.

They've taken a CarbonPro bed to a hurricane testing facility, using the test equipment to launch projectiles at both the CarbonPro bed and a steel bed. The test says the objects, including a brick and a 2x4 were fired "at category 1 hurricane force." Which means winds ranging from 74 to 95 mph. The National Hurricane Center says that category 1 means "large branches of trees will snap and shallowly rooted trees may be toppled. Extensive damage to power lines and poles likely will result in power outages that could last a few to several days."
The brick fires right through the steel bed. Watch and see what happens when it strikes the CarbonPro bed. Then GMC fires loads of other fun stuff at it. Like a picnic basket, garden gnomes, and, of course, watermelons. Even a couch.
