Official Sketch Teases Z06 Interior, Offers Easter eggs by Sebastien Bell November 12, 2019 Share Comments Although it’s not likely to be officially unveiled for some time, an official sketch from Chevrolet gives us our first look at what we can expect from the C8 Corvette Z06. The image was part of a slew of design sketches that Chevrolet gave to CNET and clearly shows a Z06 badge on the bottom of the steering wheel. Bedecked in carbon fiber and striped with red, the interior certainly looks the part. But there are other secrets hidden in there, too. The track you see just beyond the steering wheel is Mugello (as CNET points out). Above that, there appears to be a lap time of 1:48—which would be on par with what a GT1 race car was doing at Mugello in 2006. Of course, there are so many ifs and buts in this sketch that a grain of salt isn’t a big enough accompaniment for this dish, but it isn’t an unbelievably fast lap time. The car appears to be in an “ARM” mode. That could mean any number of things, but it sounds pretty exciting. There’s also a button for a “spec mode” on the steering wheel, which is also exciting if less than perfectly clear. And Tristan Murphy, whose name appears on the design, appears to be a fan of the Red Hot Chili Peppers because the song on the infotainment system is “Tell Me Baby.” Unfortunately, there’s no firm timeline on when we can expect to find out what all of this means, if anything, because Chevy hasn’t made any official statements about the Z06 yet. With production delays already hitting the C8, though, we aren’t holding our breaths for a reveal in the particularly near future.
