Mr President, Your Car is Almost Ready

A new beast is getting ready to head to Washington D.C. That’s the latest Cadillac presidential limousine, The Beast 2.0.

The current presidential, known as The Beast or Cadillac One, is nearly ten years old. It debuted with President Obama’s inauguration in 2009. Since you can’t let the leader of the free world drive around in a 10-year-old car, it’s time for a new one.

Fox News is reporting that the unveiling of the latest Beast is just around the corner. At least as much as a car like this is ever really unveiled. It means more that we get to see what it looks like and get a rough idea of the massively impressive security capability, not a big bundle of interior photos and vehicle specs. The report says that the new limo is now out of Cadillac’s hands and is with the U.S. Secret Service to finish getting outfitted. That means it could arrive at the White House as soon as this summer.

The new Beast is supposed to be even more armored and more protected against just about every attack the Secret Service can conceive of. It will probably be based on a medium-duty truck platform, like the current version which was rumored to be a GMC Topkick underneath.

Cadillac has built every presidential limo since 1993, and didn’t face any competition time around. After all, an F-550 based Lincoln MKT or Ram 5500 based Chrysler 300C just wouldn’t be the same.
