GM Also Releases 350 V8 Crate Engine with EFI by Sebastien Bell October 19, 2018 Share Comments Earlier this week, we learned that GM would be selling the ZR1 as a crate engine, but that’s not all they’ll be selling. Chevrolet will also be selling 350 ci ZZ6 engine with out of the box electronic fuel injection. Essentially the same as Chevy’s ZZ6 crate engine, the EFI small block throws out the carb and gains horsepower in the process. Thanks to the EFI system, this engine gains 13 hp and 5 lb-ft of torque over the carbureted small-block and the torque curve is essentially flat from 3000-6000 rpm. Without the carb, the unit is about an inch shorter than it would otherwise be and comes with a fully sequential port-electronic fuel injection system. Each cylinder gets its own port injector and is ready to run out of the box. As you’d expect on a ZZ6, it comes with Fast Burner heads, a high-RPM valve train, LS-style beehive valve springs, and a hydraulic roller camshaft. It may not be as impressive as the ZR1 engine, but there’s no shame in giving a car a lot of horsepower instead of an overwhelming amount of power. Look for it at SEMA this year.
