Faraday Future hires ex-GM EV1 Chief Engineer

The odd tale of the Chinese-owned, US-operated Faraday Future gets a bid weirder as they hire ex-GM electric propulsion boss Peter Savagian.

Savagian has signed on to lead powertrain development of Faraday’s first production model as their VP for engineering.

Autocar reports Savagian announced his new position on LinkedIn, saying he will “lead engineering operations for powertrain, battery and related high voltage systems.”

The crown jewel of Savagian’s 14 years of EV experience has to be leading the GM EV1 program, essentially making him the ‘father’ of the world’s first mass-produced electric vehicle.

Faraday aims to roll out its first road car sometime in 2018.
