Buick Gets a New Design Chief by Michael Accardi November 28, 2016November 28, 2016 Share Comments Helen Emsley, of GMC design fame, will now add design responsibility for the Buick brand to her duties. “Helen is the right person to do it because she has this innate ability to pull a team together and all pointing in the same direction,” Michael Simcoe, General Motors Vice President of Global Design, told Automotive News during the 2016 LA Auto Show. She takes the reigns of Buick Design from Bryan Nesbitt, who has only been in the hotseat since July 2015. Nesbitt will transition into a new role as a global design strategist for GM. Emsley has touched many marquee products in the General’s current repertoire, she was responsible for the interior of the C7 Corvette, the cabins of all GM trucks, and all GMC products since 2013.
