2016-2017 Chevrolet Spark Recalled by Michael Accardi May 23, 2017 Share Comments GM just announced 55,068 model year 2016-2017 Chevrolet Sparks will be recalled for an airbag issue which isn’t really an issue. Should there be an accident and a young child is sitting in the front passenger without wearing a seat belt, the deploying airbag could injure the child’s neck–oh, you don’t say–according to NHTSA, the level of injury risk does not comply with federal safety standards. Is it really surprising that a car crash could injure a child not wearing a seatbelt? And why are children not wearing their seatbelts in the first place? Obviously, the remedy for this recall is better parenting, however, that’s well outside the realm of GM’s core competencies and as a result, engineers are still working on a fix. Owners can get more information from the company at 1-800-222-1020, the recall number is 17199.
